Elasticated Snake Belts (BR750)

In the era before low slung jeans every boy in the land would have had his trousers held up by these elasticated belts with traditional metal snake fastening.

We have now had them remade in adult sizes so they are both practical and nostalgic.

The adult belts will adjust from 22in to 42in waist and are 1â…›in wide

Plain and striped colourways.

Actual colours may vary slightly from the images

Made in England. Ideal gift for the overgrown schoolboy..

History:

Over the centuries the snake belt design has proven to be very popular, and is considered to typically represent the dual expression of good and evil. The initial design date of the double headed snake clasp is uncertain, but this serpentine form may have existed as far back as medieval times.

Snake Buckles gained common popularity, or at least recorded popularity, when worn on sword belts by soldiers from former British colonies, being adopted in Australia, America, Canada, New Zealand, India and Hong Kong around the mid Victorian era, or late 19th century.
